One piece Lisa was particularly interested in was Aureole, and now of course I realise now that I’ve been so busy that I haven’t posted on my blog yet to tell you about this special piece! So here it is, this image of me wearing Aureole was taken by Jim Gibson.
So as you will hear in the interview (just copy and paste the link below to hear the interview) Aureole is a competition piece. The theme of the competition was Inspiration and entry to the competition was by purchasing a basic kit from the competition organisers. Seventy five milliners from all over the world applied for kits and used the materials it contained to create a truly unique and individual headpiece.
Imagine my surprise and delight when the Queens’ milliner Rachel Trevor Morgan in conjunction with the competition organisers, Parkin Fabrics, judged my entry Aureole to be in the top three. During London Hat Week I was delighted to visit the Parkin Fabrics trade fair where they created a special exhibit of the winning pieces for the many Hat Week visitors to view. I went and looked too!
So to hear more about the sources of inspiration for Aureole, A Celebration of Alnwick Garden, for more details on all my latest millinery activities and to hear the Lisa Shaw interview, please copy and paste the link to the download below for the show. The piece Lisa ran on my millinery work starts at about 10.09 and then runs in a further 3 segments ending at about 10.40, please do listen if you have the time and inclination.
